Bought my Seamaster 300m new in Jan 2020 and it has some minor scratches in the AR coating. I thought I was the only one with this issue on the newer Seamaster. I don’t recall having done anything overly rough with it also, so I’m not sure how they got there. The point of sapphire is to have a crystal so hard that it won't get scratched, but then Omega defeats that purpose by putting AR on the outside of the crystal that pretty easily gets scratched. Usually AR scratches look more like transparent scuffs, and I agree that the MDF (particle board) of your cupboard would not be hard enough to scratch sapphire. My AD in New Jersey reached out to Omega and they were kind enough to give me a new replacement. This came as a surprise, because I have read about this issue happening throughout this forum and it seems like paying for a crystal replacement is . Immediately upon purchase, you get a gorgeous, crystal clear sapphire crystal. If you happen to scratch it and it bothers you a ton, you can remove it and never worry about it again, and the crystal still has the underside AR coating.
