In order to achieve this COSC certification, Rolex changed the movement from the caliber 3000 to the caliber 3130. Finally, in 2007, the watch gained a chronometer certification and a couple extra lines of text. In 1999 the dial of the 14060M Submariner changed from Tritium to Luminova. In 2007 the 14060M became a certified chronometer and extra text was added to the dial sometimes referred to as COSC, or 4 line. From 2007 to 2011 the 14060M Submariner was produced with an engraved inner rehault.

Though, in my opinion, tritium-based glass tubes appear to be the superior choice if one desires maximum luminescence and the ability to offer a variety of colors.
