A thin case, similar to a submariner, usually associated with the watches in the 1.6 mil to 2.2 mil range and a thicker case with the remainder of the cases. Condition of the case is important and you would like to see thick lugs and crowns guards. It dates to circa 1972 and features an excellent, thick 'thin' case with even lugs and no signs of polishing. The black bezel insert has taken on a faint navy fade. But the real treat with this piece is that the 'MK2' dial has changed to a gorgeous brown 'tropical' color.

The Double Red Sea-Dweller (DRSD) ref. 1665, produced between 1967 and 1977, is a highly sought-after vintage Rolex dive watch, celebrated for its pioneering features and distinctive aesthetic. This model was the first to introduce the helium escape valve (HEV), marking a significant advancement in dive watch technology.Compared to the Submariner, it had, among other things, a thicker case, the helium escape valve, a domed crystal protecting the face of the watch, engravings on the caseback, and no Cyclops lens over the date window.

I have been hunting for a tropical dial DRSD for a while. I am planning to keep my next grail piece forever - that's the plan at least! This thin case example has caught my eye and I would appreciate your input.

(Co-Branded DRSD Comex/Rolex AD c. 1970's) In the early part of the 1960's deep sea diving and in particular mixed gas diving was advancing. The 40mm stainless steel case was almost identical to the COMEX ref. 5514 Submariner, and noticeably thinner than the case that was used when the watch was put into regular production in 1971. All were fitted with an HEV and were marked with .A Double Red Sea-Dweller the same thin case as the Rolex Submariner. An Historical Account of Two Notable Corruptions of Scripture is a dissertation by the English mathematician and scholar Isaac Newton. This was sent in a letter to John Locke on 14 November 1690. In fact, Newton may have been in dialogue with Locke about this issue much earlier.
