It is in perfect condition for a late 70s/early 80s bag except for the fact it is missing two interior rivets/studs/grommets. Also, an exterior rivet was loose and I thought I was able to secure it and now that is missing as well.

I had a rivet replaced immediately in the store (it had fallen off) and I wanted the rivets of the other one to be exchanged as they had greenspan on the edges.
The screw fell out and it's what holds the bag handle to the bag. I can take it to the Louis Vuitton store but i do not want to pay 0+ for this tiny screw. That's insane! Take it back to the store and try speaking to a different person, preferably one that doesn't have their head up their butt, and enquire about the repair again.
It was time for a change! Took almost 4 months to get it back from LV. All new vachetta, strap and drawstring. They added a D-ring inside. The tools that might get them off are brutal, and would likely to damage the plate even more, while the rivets themselves would be destroyed. I don't know how a simple cobbler would replace those branded rivets. And while he could apply some gold-plating to the emblem, it is 100% will not be the same colour as the original Vuitton plating.
